We all hope your new CC clothing will stand the test of time. It’s disheartening to see your favourite items come out of the wash with unexpected marks, stains, shrinkage, or fading. To avoid these issues and continue to look their best, it’s essential to follow the care instructions below. With the right care, your garments will stay soft, vibrant, and in great condition for years to come.
ALWAYS TURN GARMENTS INSIDE OUT BEFORE WASHING
We often assume that our washing machines keep our CC clothes spotless indefinitely, but this isn’t entirely true. Over time, residue accumulates in your machine, which is an unavoidable issue. When this residue, along with dirt and grime, comes into contact with your CC clothing—especially items with polyester—it can result in additional stains and spots. To minimize this risk, turning your CC garments inside out before washing is a simple yet effective way to protect them, reducing the chance of the visible side of your CC clothes coming into contact with these residues.
AVOID USING FABRIC SOFTENER
Not only can the ingredients in fabric softeners be harmful to your skin and the environment, but they can also be detrimental to your CC clothes and washing machine. Fabric softener tends to linger in your machine for multiple cycles because it’s not easily broken down by water. This means that even if you use it occasionally, it may still transfer to subsequent washes, potentially causing damage to your CC clothes.
WASH SIMILAR COLORS TOGETHER AND ALWAYS USE COLD WATER
Using cold water significantly reduces the risk of your garments shrinking or fading. We highly recommend washing in cold water on a gentle cycle to maintain the quality of your CC items. Additionally, for products with large prints, hot water can cause the prints to peel or crack, as the heat weakens the materials in the design. Plus, washing with cold water is more energy-efficient and can help lower your utility bills!
AVOID USING BLEACH OR STAIN REMOVERS
Bleaches and stain removers, which contain bleaching agents and whiteners, can damage the colours in your CC garments, often resulting in more noticeable stains and marks than those you’re trying to eliminate. Instead, we suggest using baking soda or distilled white vinegar to tackle stains. However, always test these remedies on a small, hidden area of the fabric first to ensure they won’t harm your clothing.
AVOID USING DRYERS
Just like hot water, using a dryer is harmful to both your CC garments and the environment. Drying items such as CC hoodies in a dryer can cause significant shrinking and distortion, and once shrunk, they won’t revert to their original size or shape. Additionally, dryers can damage prints and logos on your CC clothing. They also consume a substantial amount of energy, so avoiding them can reduce your electricity costs and lower your carbon footprint. For the best results, we recommend air-drying your CC garments naturally in the shade.
